My go to boots :: Spring wardrobe update

Nothing makes me more excited than handmade shoes, and Poppy Barley's Chelsea Boots had me at hello.

Hey, you all know I am always looking for great travel wear. When I was in LA teaching my Style Photo workshop, one of our attendees had some amazing boots on her feet. She went on to tell us that they were the most comfortable travel boots ever. Truth is that they were beautiful handmade boots from Poppy Barley; you had me at handmade. Poppy Barley is designed in Canada, founded by two sisters, Kendall and Justine Barber.

Nothing makes me more excited than handmade shoes. I was intrigued because my travel wardrobe is crucial since I spend most of my time running through airports. I got lost on their website as they have the most beautifully crafted footwear, but I immediately chose the the Poppy Barley Chelsea Boots. However, I know I will be back to choose some summer kicks, too.

Couple of important facts about Poppy Barley shoes and accessories they are made ethically in León, Mexico, which is often referred to as the “Shoe Capital of the World”. I don’t know about you but it is important to know that products are being produced ethically. Plus their motto speaks to all boss ladies, like me! “We design for kick-ass women who don’t have time for sore feet.”Yes, please.

Nothing makes me more excited than handmade shoes, and Poppy Barley's Chelsea Boots had me at hello.

Add these boots to your spring wardrobe update, you will not regret it. I can’t wait to wear them with a spring dress. Full disclosure: I have not taken them off. They will be on my feet tomorrow as I travel to Italy to check on our renovations.

Follow me and my new boots on IG stories. xx pssst… my boots don’t know it yet, but we will be trekking through Parma Sunday.

*Quick note this leather color will be launching next week.

Cole Haan StudiøGrand

When my sweet friend who works for various fashion brands around the world offered to send me some new workout gear from Cole Haan StudiøGrand, well of course I said YAAAAAASSS! He knows I love to wear workout gear in and out of the gym, and this new collection from Cole Haan was perfect for me.

You know I rarely post fashion, but because I am obsessed with fit and comfort when I work and when I work out, I couldn’t resist. This line is perfect for my work as a stylist/producer as well. The sneakers are comfortable, cute, and supportive. I need them in every color. The Synchronize Sweater is light weight, stylish, and comfortable; it had me at hello.

I love the outerwear, too. It’s the perfect weight to throw on right after a spin class and run errands around town. Let’s just say it’s very chic. It’s great stuff to tromp around our Italian vineyard as well, so I’m sold. The StudiøGrand collection is available now on and in US and international Cole Haan Stores.

hit the ground running :: my new gig with M&V Magazine

After a summer in Italy reentry is always a bit bumpy, mama mia!  Jet lag ugh and, missing my morning Italian espresso, missing friends, missing the ocean, the slow pace, and the Italian language, the markets, the church bells, and people talking with their hands, I even miss the non stop buzzing of the Vespas on our street.

I am blessed to have a job that allows me to work anywhere, and a job that when I return although hectic, is creatively fulfilling, a joy! I recently was offered a new position with Muses and Visionaries Magazine as their “Entertaining and Home Editor”, definitely a dream gig. The team at M&V are visionaries themselves as they say this is the start of a beautiful friendship.

This position allows me to  share gatherings and parties all over the country and all over the world, pretty darn cool, and wait until you see who we have lined up! It’s a fantasy to finally be able to feature iconic women (and some men) sharing their party style with me, and in turn with all of you.

I had the pleasure of shooting one of my own artistic muses Susan Hable last week, with the splendid photographic eye of Kathryn Mccrary, I think you will be amazed at the mind blowing celebration she puts together for the pages of M&V. She’s cool, real, fun and has pink hair…She’s definitely a girl  who’s crush worthy! Check it out coming in November. In the meantime, follow M&V on Instagram, check out my official editorial debut, a feature from Italy in the current food issue and of course for all my styling adventures follow me on Instagram. Have a great weekend and ciao for now xx

For Your Style I’d Walk a Mile with Lisa Gabrielson

First of all thank you all for the kind words about the new website. It is truly thrilling to finally be able to share it with you guys. You can also check me out over on BHG’s blog, Delish Dish, today! Cheers all around and on to introductions! Pleased to welcome the beautiful Lisa Gabrielson to the blog today. Lisa is a self-taught interior designer/antique dealer and owner of Lisa Gabrielson Design. She has a BA in Art History from Mills College and studied art in Florence, Italy where she met her husband, Lorenzo, and lived for 17 years. There, she started a children’s clothing company, worked for Gucci, and returned to her first love: interior design. Seven years ago, Lisa transported her family and design business to Atlanta, Georgia. Recently, her work has been featured in Atlanta Magazine, Consumer Reports Kitchen Buying Guide, with the The Cottage Journal and a few more hitting the stands this year. She is a participating designer for Room Service Atlanta and blog writer. Her antiques can be found at the Queen of Hearts in Alpharetta. Lisa lives with her husband, two children and Golden Retriever in Johns Creek, but travels back to Italy as much as possible. Thanks, Lisa! Take it away…

1. Who would you like to play you in a movie?
Two of the greatest icons of style, class and beauty: Grace Kelly and Gwyneth Paltrow

2. I wish I could… Live in Italy (or the South of France) again part-time. It is where we started our family, and where we feel truly at home and happy. I also wish I could be on “Dancing with the Stars”… but first I need to become famous.

3. First Style Memory…
As a very little girl I was obsessed with the décor in “ladies lounges”. I remember being so excited about discovering that small room behind closed doors: the vivid wallpaper, pretty mirrors and moody lighting. The best ones had a vanity with hairspray, powder, and other goodies. A beautiful bathroom in a public space still excites the heck out of me. Some of my faves are at: the Charles de Gaulle airport, JK Place and Obika’ in Florence, Bistro VG in Roswell.

4. I could not live without… plain and simple: my “bambini” Bianca and Luca. The longer list would include: ashtanga yoga, beautiful places and spaces, prosecco, my mom’s psychological advice, my dad’s business advice, music of all kinds (with the exception of pop and country), my work, family dinners, great food, a good belly laugh…and of course… my iphone.

5. I could live without… toxic stress, firearms, pretentiousness, high fructose corn syrup, negativity, cleaning the house, football, gossip, baseball, cold weather, Atlanta traffic, and my daughter getting ready to fly the coop.

My style? A blend of antique pieces with clean lines, soft textiles and rustic elements to create an air of fresh, relaxed luxury and a touch of romance.
