Meet the AJS Workshop Team:: Kayla Alexander

Today I’m introducing you to another member of my team, Kayla. Kayla has been with me on many many adventures and beyond being an awesome member of the team, is a personal family friend. I know you’ll love her as much as I do!

Q: Tell me a little bit about yourself.
A:Your full name? Kayla Rose Alexander
Where are you from? Atlanta, GA
What do you do for a living? Art Student at SAIC, but graduating in May and working on my art practice full time (minus these amazing excursions)
What is your role on the AJS Workshop Team? Photography Assistant/Teacher

Q: Tell us about your background.
A: I began painting around the age of seven and started taking photographs around the age of 10. So, art has been my passion for as long as I can remember. While I started with the fundamentals, oil painting and dark room photography, I have since branched out into print media, fibers, and fashion.

Q: Describe your expertise for the workshops.
A: I have assisted many different types of photographers over the passed ten years, including Gregory Colbert for two years. I’ve learned an abundance of varying styles and techniques along the way, allowing me to help the workshop participants capture their desired imagery. Also, I have a different set of eyes since I work both in the fine art world as well as the photography/styling world.

Q: What do you enjoy most about being a part of the AJS Workshop Team?
A: I’ve always found an immense amount of inspiration in seeing new places and cultures! These workshops allow me to do not only that, but also meet amazing people, work with amazing people, and share my passion. What more could I ask for?

Q: What is one app (business related or not) you absolutely cannot live without?

Q: Where is your favorite place to travel?
A: It’s difficult to say really… but Italy is definitely way up there! Or anywhere I can scuba dive.

Q: What is one travel destination you hope to cross off your bucket list?
A: Barcelona

Q: What is your favorite part of exploring a new destination?
A: Inspiration and knowledge from those you meet along the way.

Q: What is one travel essential you’re sure to pack on every trip?
A: Extra memory chips and changers!

Q: Just for fun (and in true Annette style), what is your go-to cocktail?
A: Whiskey Ginger with Lime! As long as there is liquor, this drink exists almost everywhere. Very dependable!
