Atlanta-based interior designer, writer, and philanthropist, Erika Ward worked in the design-build industry as an accountant before turning her passion for interior design into a successful business. Named by Atlanta Tribune as having one of the top design firms of 2012, Erika’s work has appeared in the Better Homes and Gardens (remember this?), Atlanta-Journal Constitution, Atlanta Home Improvement Magazine, and on HGTV.com. In addition to providing decorating advice and inspiration on her internationally recognized blog, BlulabelBungalow.com she is also called upon for her design advice for publications such as Williams Sonoma’s Designer Marketplace blog, houzz.com, and Huffington Post.
In 2010, Erika co-founded Room Service Atlanta a non-profit group of interior designers and design enthusiasts who provide pro-bono services to Metro Atlanta shelters. I was so happy and honored to be a part of it. You can see my room here. Excited to have this lovely lady (and my dear friend) on the blog today. Take it away, Erika!
1. Who would you want to play you in a movie?
Jordin Sparks. Not only does this girl have a serious set of pipes, she’s surprisingly a good actress. When I wore my hair long, people used to stop me and ask if I was Jordin. What a high compliment!
2. I wish I could…
Pack my family up and move to Paris for a year. I’ve been twice, once alone and then I took my grandmother. The scenery was beyond anything I could have dreamed and I loved the opportunity to use my high school French. Pour vivre à Paris serait magnifique!
3. My first style memory is…
I remember always trying to walk in my mother’s stillettos. I don’t think she owned a pair of flat shoes. Her philosophy was, the higher the better. I remember loving the clicking sound when I walked. Made me feel grown up.
4. I could not live without my….
My Bible. I still don’t read as much as I would like to, but I do refer to it when I need encouragement. Lately I’ve been helping my children commit scriptures to memory.
5. I could live without…
Television. I don’t watch nearly the amount of TV as I did when I was a child; however I do spend a disproportionate amount of time on my computer.
Pick a photo or décor objet, or piece of clothing that defines your style.
My personal style is clean and classic with a touch of ethnic influence. This is an outfit I could wear to a client meeting or to my children’s school performances. I’d switch the top to something a bit sexier for a dinner out with my husband. For Your Style I'd Walk a Mile : Tags: erika ward
