Hi Everyone! It’s Nicole, Annette’s web-manager and friend. Today, I’m bringing you an epic Father’s Day gift guide. Today, I'm bringing you an epic Father's Day gift guide. Here are just a few fabulous gifts for the dad, dad-to-be, or granddad in your life.

1. The August Diet Print: Old Try is one of my favorite under-the-radar places to find unique prints. This one, an homage to The Masters at August National, is sure to keep a smile on Dad’s face.

2. Sid Mashburn Low Top Slip-Ons: Slip-ons are essentially synonymous with summer. These from Sid Mashburn are a great price point and are so stylish.

3. Men and Style: Speaking of style, if you’re gifting something to the stylish man in your life, look no further than Men and Style which covers history of men’s style through essays and interviews.

4. Wood Coasters: Give your dapper dad these wooden plaid coasters for his man cave. They come as a set of 12 which means there’s enough to go around at the poker table.

5. Crosley Turn Table: If your dad has a collection of old records collecting dust somewhere, this turn-table is exactly what he needs. Give those dusty records their groove back!

Best New Italian Cookbooks for Gift Giving on Cyber Monday

It’s that time of year! Gift giving time, people and it’s Cyber Monday. I must say my favorite gifts are usually cookbooks. Italian cookbooks are even better. Check out my faves and today is the best time to buy them all online at Amazon since it’s Cyber Monday!

As most of you know, I am a bit of an Italiophile (understatement). There are quite a few folks, who like me, adore Italy as their adopted country and write about their favorite Italian recipes. These talented ladies are fanatical Italiofoodiephiles… Here’s a list of some of the best new Italian cookbooks that have come on the scene this year. All of these ladies are obsessed with sharing their favorite Italian recipes, and let’s face it, Italian food is best enjoyed at home. Pick-up a copy for a friend or family member, and of course, don’t forget to gift yourself one or all of these beauties, too.

Happy gift giving. xx

I should add I enjoy following these ladies on Instagram; they have amazing feeds and adventures. I suggest you head over and follow them as well.

Florentine

  1. Emiko Davies runs a super cool blog; she’s a food writer, but she’s now authored a couple books, and this is her latest (and her first), and she has one on the way in March 2017. Can’t wait. She’s a transplant from Australia living her life with her family in Italy. She runs cooking classes, writes form Italian newspapers, and has a vast knowledge of all things Italian. Her book Florentine: The True Cuisine of Florence is tremendous and well written. I highly suggest it. Emiko’s Blog : Emiko Davies

Preserving Italy

2. Domenica Marchetti has written the quintessential Italian preserving book, Preserving Italy. Domenica grew up in an American Italian family. She is a writer and with a passion for all things Italian especially food, she has turned her passion into writing about and cooking Italian cuisine. Domenica will be joining me in Italy for a workshop at the Fortress in 2018. Wait for details. In the meantime, pick-up this book; it’s really the perfect gift. Domenica’s Blog: Domenica Cooks

tasting Rome

3. Katie Parla and Kristina Gill are both American transplants in Rome their book Tasting Rome is one of my favorites as the recipes are easy straight forward and delicious. Katie is a food writer, and Kristina is a food writer and photographer (she photographed most of their book). Pick-up a copy and be transported to Rome. Katie’s blog: Katie Parla , Kristina Gill Photography

Five Quarters

4.Rachel Roddy is the author of 2 cookbooks about Rome; either one or both make an excellent gift. Five Quarters is her latest endeavor. I love this book because it highlights Roman neighborhoods. Cooking from each quarter! Would that make a great dinner party theme! Just sayin’… Rachel is a contributor to The Guardian.

Italian Street Food

5.Paola Bacchia is one of Australia’s most popular Italian food bloggers. Her book Italian Street Food is one of my newer acquisitions. I am going to cook from it this holiday season. I think it’s such a clever premise. I will let you know how I like it, but I am pretty sure I am going to love it. Definitely on the radar as a great holiday gift. Paola’s blog:  Italy on My Mind

Let me know which ones you buy, and if you make recipes from these books. I would love to hear about them. Happy Holidays, it’s truly the most delectable time of year. xx

My Holiday Gift Guide

ajsgiftguide2016

I love this time of year. I am a gift giver, and there are some really great ones on the market this year.

I wanted to share some of the things I will be gifting this year in my annual gift guide.

There’s something for everyone. Great gifts for your man, your kids’ teachers, your BFF, and of course, a little something for you.

1. For You! Style Photo Workshop in TuscanyBe sure to add one of my Style Photo Workshops in Tuscany to your wish list. You’ll get to visit the Fortress, drink wine in our vineyard, and learn from the best of the best. Treat yourself!

2. For Him! Men and Style Book by David Coggins: From Amazon: Men and Style reaches beyond standard “what to wear” advice: It is equal parts style guide and intriguing conversation about the masculine identity within the world of fashion. David Coggins explores the history of men’s style and learns from some of the most notable tastemakers in the industry and beyond. Its essays and interviews discuss the lessons men learned from their fathers, the mistakes they made as young men, and how they emerged to become better men. Some of the most dapper men in the world discuss bad mustaches, misguided cologne choices, and unfortunate prom tuxedos. All the men here have arrived at a place in the world and have a keen understanding about how they fit in it. Men and Style celebrates singular men who’ve lived well and can tell us about how they earned their worldview. They’re smart enough to absorb the wisdom that’s hidden in the world, and even smarter to wear that wisdom lightly.

3. For your BFF! Williams Sonoma Copper Corkscrew: Never underestimate the power of a well-made corkscrew in a beautiful finish. This one would be great for your BFF or make a wonderful hostess gift throughout the season.

4. For the Teacher! Sling Shot Coffee Caramels: Give the teachers something sweet and something delicious. These are reasonably priced if your student has several teachers, or you can add them to a big basket of other goodies.

5. For your Hairdresser! Scandinavisk Candle: Girls, let’s be honest: our hairdressers are our lifelines; we couldn’t do life without them. When you’re making your list this year, pick up a candle or two for your beauty team.

6. For the Jet-Setter! Herbivore Rose Mist: Rose water is a fantastic pick-me-up, especially after a long day of travel. A little spritz of this will leave her feeling refreshed.

7. For the Business Owner! In the Company of Women: From Amazon: Across the globe, women are embracing the entrepreneurial spirit and starting creative businesses. In the Company of Women profiles over 100 of these influential and creative women from all ages, races, backgrounds, and industries. Chock-full of practical, inspirational advice for those looking to forge their own paths, these interviews detail the keys to success (for example, going with your gut; maintaining meaningful and lasting relationships), highlight the importance of everyday rituals (meditating; creating a daily to-do list), and dispense advice for the next generation of women entrepreneurs and makers (stay true to what you believe in; have patience). The book is rounded out with hundreds of lush, original photographs of the women in their work spaces.

Holiday Hostess Gifts

Hello Everyone! It’s Nicole, Annette’s friend and marketing manager bringing you some holiday fun. This week, Annette and I are rounding up our favorite holiday gifts. It IS the season of giving, after all.

I personally love to give gifts, so reading and creating gift guides is one of my favorite things to do. Today, I thought I’d bring you great gifts for the host. With parties nearly every night of the week, it’s best not to show up empty handed. Be prepared with a little token of Christmas cheer at each party you attend. The host will be thrilled at the thoughtfulness!

1. Antler Napkin Rings – Going to a dinner party? Napkin rings are a great gift the hostess can use again and again.

2. Oh La La Vase – Flowers are always a hit as a hostess gift, but what about something to put those blooming buds in? Scoop up a lovely vase like this one to save the day.

3. Card Box Set – I am a firm believer that everyone home should have a good, sturdy set of playing cards. Keep the party alive with a beautiful set of playing cards for your welcoming hostess.

4. Chocolate Salami – Of course I had to throw in a little Italian tongue-and-cheek gift in honor of Annette. Atlanta chocolatier, Cacao, has a chocolate salami (don’t worry, it’s ALL chocolate…it just looks like a salami). This gift can be used immediately and is a great conversation starter.

5. A Gift For Stamp – I love the idea of giving a gift that’s “in season.” Pick up this stamp that the hostess can use to wrap her own gifts to others all season long.

6. French Butter Caramels – Something sweet for the sweet hostess? Yes, please!

7. Cabernet Wine Bottle Candle – Described as a charming gift for wine connoisseurs, I cannot imagine a better gift for a wine loving host.

8. Bitterman’s Field Guide to Bitters & Amari – Mixology is such a part of our culture, and every host needs to know how to mix the perfect cocktail. Help them achieve bartender status with this book.

9. Linen Dinner Napkins – These tearable linen napkins are the best for big crowds. Not only do they beat paper, they’re stylish, too.

10. Macaron Ornaments – What foodie wouldn’t love to add a set of beautiful macaron ornaments to her tree? Ornaments make a lovely gift that can be used year after year.

What are your favorite hostess gifts? I’d love to hear your ideas in the comments!

xo, Nicole
