A special thank you to Gwyneth and her team at GOOP for including me in their book gift guide for Red Magazine. You can see the transformation they mentioned of Gwyneth’s Nashville home right here. I am beyond excited to be in such great company! What a treat.
Speaking of all things glamourous, I’m going to be at Woo Skin Care next thursday for a very fun event. During my book signing for Picture Perfect Parties, Trish McEvoy makeup artists will be on hand working their magic to give you picture perfect makeup. Plan a girls night out! See you there!

We’re in a Kentucky bourbon kind of mood around here. It was almost too perfect when my friend, Julia, sent me her recipe. Julia Turshen is a food writer, producer and private chef who was born and bred in Manhattan. I met Julia when I was tricking out Gwyneth Paltrow’s flat in Nashville while she was filming the movie “Country Strong”, Julia and I instantly had a bond, our love of food! Over the last few years we have had the pleasure of sharing several stellar meals and lively conversations. Julia is older and wiser than her years, I am happy to call her a friend. Although she’s young, she’s extremely accomplished and most notably, she co-authored Spain: A Culinary Road Trip with Mario Batali and Gwyneth Paltrow, assisted Ms. Paltrow on My Father’s Daughter and co-authored the The Kimchi Chronicles with Marja Vongerichten. Julia has also written extensively for Food & Wine, epicurious, GOOP, interviewmagazine.com and Rue.
- A few generous dashes Angostura bitters
- Juice of half a fresh lemon
- 1 shot good Kentucky bourbon
- Seltzer water
Fill a shaker with ice and hand full of ice or an over sized ice cube like shown above. Add bitters, lemon juice and bourbon and shake vigorously. Pour the entire contents of the shaker (ice and all) into a highball and top with a splash of seltzer.
