Tear Sheets: Better Homes and Gardens June 2013

In last month’s Better Homes and Gardens I styled the “I did it!” feature starring blogger Kelly Marszka’s thrifty laundry room makeover. It’s such a fun part of my job to see how people live and what inspires them. As a mom I’ve done my fair share of laundry so I totally get the benefit of having a bright, fun space to sort socks and fold underwear. Kelly and her husband did the entire transformation for $157. Impressive. The photo was shot by my friend Lauren Rubinstein (remember her from the “for your style” post?). Lauren also snapped this candid of me. Had to share. Hope you all have a great week! Fun cooking adventures from Italy coming soon…

Tear Sheets: “I Did It!” Fireplace Mantle

With Christmas around the corner I thought it would be fun to share this DIY for some inspiration! This cute couple from Savannah didn’t know they had that gorgeous brick fireplace until they started trying to repair the drywall which kept crumbling and then exposed the historic Georgia-clay brick. They loved it and worked around it to tie the new mantle in with the history of the once covered brick. It now serves as the centerpiece for their holiday decorating. We played it up with an over-sized wreath and classic poinsettias. So festive!

Tear Sheets: “I Did It” Dining Room Table

I love a good DIY and this table is off the charts amazing. This cute husband and wife of Auburn, AL made this “picnic inspired” table that could fit through their back door for weekend parties and tailgating. Best part? They made it for less than $50. Amazing!

Do you have an amazing DIY that you’ve done? I’d love to see it!

Tear Sheets: “I Did It!” Laundry Room

This incredible homeowner overhauled this tiny space into this dream laundry room. It took her around two weeks and less than $500. Pretty amazing, huh? She found out later that she was expecting twins (WAY more laundry), making her really happy that she had such a great spot to get it all done in. I played up the pop of yellow on the walls with bright towels and clever laundry essentials with great packaging. Who doesn’t love Mrs. Meyers?!
